soak It n' cook it

Jim and I have been cooking daily for our birds for many years. We have finally come across a recipe that all the birds love. It is designed for the smaller bird owners to cook it and freeze it in smaller amounts and then to warm in the microwave, add their fresh fruit, etc. and serve to the birds that day.

It contains the following; whole kernel wheat, long brown rice, garbanzo beans, pearled barley, baby lima beans, green split peas, yellow split peas, pinto beans, white hominy, and our special ingredient, dried sweet corn.

Pasta mix

This is another recipe from Jim that gets cooked, mixed with the soak it and cook it and then gets frozen to microwave and serve warm in the morning. The base of the pasta mix is tri-colored rotini (tomato, spinach and semolina) to which we have added banana chips, papaya, pineapple, raisins and peanuts. Our breakfasts consists of soak it and cook it, the pasta mix, fresh fruit, mixed vegetables and corn and their vitamins. Also, once this mixture is dished out we add specific toppings depending on the species being served; all macaws gets their nuts, they all get grapes. The smaller species get their nutri-berries. We also provide whatever fresh produce is available seasonally; squash, sweet corn, green beans, etc.

Cooking instructions! The pasta mix gets cooked as if you were making macaroni and cheese. The pasta is cooked for about 10 minutes and drained.
